Astronomy for Kids
Astronomy is a serious science. Astronomy for kids is a thought provoking pursuit that can teach them about the sciences in general. Kids are naturally drawn to many aspects of astronomy. These include the moon, the stars and far distant galaxies.
Then there's our sun. The gap between our home and the sun is very large. We are between 91 and 94 million miles from the sun. The reason for the variance is Earth's elliptical orbit. Without the sun there would be no life on Earth. The sun provides both light and heat to the planet. Most people don't realize that the sun accounts for around 98% of all the mass in the solar system. Think about how small a person is compared to that.
Our sun and solar system reside in a galaxy called the Milky Way. It's full of space stuff. But most of the galaxy is empty nothingness. That's a lot of nothing because our galaxy is 100,000 light years across and 3,000 light years deep. We're somewhere in the neighborhood of 30,000 light years from galactic central core. Even with all that space there are about 100 billion stars in the Milky Way. The galaxy's name comes from the many stars near the center. From Earth it looks like a Milky Way, a large pool of milk. There are four types of galaxies – elliptical, lenticular, irregular and like the Milky Way, spiral.
You can find a wealth of resources for astronomy for kids on the internet. In fact there are many star charts, charting programs, images, videos, and other resources .

I nominate for a Shorty Award in #science because MeteorWatch helped introduce my kids to astronomy.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it wasn’t uncommon to see X-shaped bodies dashing about a solar system. But in this era, in this neck of the universe, it is decidedly strange. Yet the Hubble Space Telescope picked up just such an X-shaped debris pattern trailing a tail of dust and gravel last month that has NASA’s brain trust excited: We may have witnessed two asteroids colliding head-on for the very first time. The comet-like mystery object, 90 million miles from Earth, was first imaged up by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research program in early January, at which point Hubble’s new Wide Field Camera 3 took over and captured the image here. But what looked at first glance like a comet proved in the Hubble images to be trailing a rough debris trail rather than the smooth dust envelope indicative of a comet. Ground-based telescopes also could not establish any of the gases usually present in a comet’s debris trail in the object’s spectra. Instead, NASA researchers now…

A new report launched by the Institute of Physics (IOP) Exoplanets – The search for planets beyond our solar system explains how new technological advances have seen the discovery of more than 400 exoplanets to date, a number expected to rise to thousands in the next few years.
best video ever
yeah i agree with most of u guys in here the anchor is a dweeb and at least this Michio guy seems to be humble and admits he doesnt know what it is ( I think he does) this anchor guy seems like a typical mainstream media talking head (clueless and antipathetic) and they wonder why TV ratings have crashed
I listened to Hasaishi- he composes is contemporary light jazz style (not really very classical), and it is certainly not as unique as this style of music. Cage and his followers opened up many new doors for composers that allowed new styles to emerge- that is their significance. Listen to horror soundtracks and you hear a lot of these sounds!
Not a star: The planet Venus. From our current relative alignments with the Sun, Venus lies west of the Sun, so it rises a few hours before sunrise. It is the brightest object in the eastern sky before dawn, except as the Moon ventures near in the coming week..
A lot of astronomical evidence is at odds with the bible, so that might have something to do with it.
As long as people understand that you mean a living being is not a HUMAN being, then yes, this is fairly accurate.
well what if the aliens dont believe in god there just saying this to cover there asses

Houses and cars are quite expensive and not everybody is able to buy it. However, loan are invented to aid different people in such situations.

its nice to read . i wish you to give more explanation about astronomy
